Dementia Support Group

DEMENTIA SUPPORT GROUP

The Caregiver Support Group is an informal gathering for those whose lives have been directly or indirectly affected by providing care for a loved one who is living with dementia.

Caregivers have many common needs and many of these needs can be met through a Caregiver Support Group. The group provides recognition, support, information, education, problem sharing and socialization.  It allows  a place where you can be yourself, share experiences, and insights. Most of all, have the positive input of your peers.  The group members are free to discuss common concerns and can help one another with challenging situations.

The support group is for the caregiver only . If your loved one cannot be left alone while you attend the group ,you may want to consider a day care in a facility. The facility may allow your loved one to attend their facility one-day per month. Another option is to ask one of your friends, neighbors or relatives  to stay with your loved one while you are attending the meeting.

If you have any questions, please call Janet Standifer 817-901-4658 or Heather Lovelace 817-226-6062.
